I was just about to post that, must be another Robert Shaw fan thinking there was flying a Spit straight and level in a combat zone for more than 30s and he was diving in out of the sun for the attack
It did not look all that extraordinary to me for what was obviously a training flight . We are not told where this was, but in the former Yugoslavia, the practice of all UN flights, usually C 130, was to make a descent of this sort to minimise exposure to ground to air fire during approach, and I understand that this practice is now universally adopted for C 130s in Afghanistan
Ah.. there's a man who can remember things! Yes.. very impressive stuff. They sometimes boot stuff out the back while still rolling (jeeps with fighting blokes embarked e t c) then reverse back down the runway to pick them up and finally.. shove it in a forward gear and takeoff again. Gotta be a whole pile of fun for all concerned
