Laying train track

Hi Folks

Video is mis-labelled,
it's not laying track,
only refurbishing & cleaning ballast.

There are 2 of these machines in the world.
One here in NZ and the other in Europe.

Naaaahhh.....

Well maybe from that specific manufacturer.

There's 2 brand new ones in the UK,
to supplement the various older versions here.

My apologies.

I wasn't a criticising your original post, (I hadn't realised you were the o/p),
rather the wimp.com site itself,
which just seems to be nothing but reposted/mis-labeled video-content
nicked from other sites.



My interest in the tracklayer stems from a lecture I'd attended
given by a former colleague, in his capacity as a Dir. of Network Rail,
at which he'd detailed their engineering achievements and kit utilised.

Interesting that it's a Plasser. There is a Plasser machine often to be seen parked at Crewe which obviously has something to do with track laying or maintenance , but precisely what it does I don't know

...and got the job done a lot quicker, too.

Its what you don't see
that's sometimes the important bit.

A lot of the major infrastructure is Victorian, e.g. bridges, tunnels, etc.

Network Rail are tasked with keeping the railway running,
minimising impact on passengers and freight.

Majority of line-blocking tasks
are performed in the 8 hour slots of Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights.

I've seen a time-lapse film of
replacing a mainline brick-arched railway bridge in under 8 hours.

Here's some other tasks -

I am very concerned about the quote from my last post. Someone has made an unauthorised alteration - I certainly did not add the line which includes " I doubt that it does anything" since the whole point of my post was that it obviously does do something . Are we being hacked again???

Hmm.. I'm sure that line wasn't there when I first read your post either Chris. Disturbingly, there is no indication that it has been edited either We weren't 'hacked' the last time we had problems here though there were an unnerving amount of new members joining from Eastern Europe just prior to us upgrading the forum software and this was as good a reason as any to do the upgrade. I'll keep an eye open but please shout if you see something else 'changed'.
