Well for the last 5 years it's been nothing but an empty shell stripped for spares for Lusty and the Ark and was never going to be re-used. £2million is better than letting it slowly rust away further or sinking it as an artificial reef.

The french Clemenceau was so bad in that regard that not even the Indians would take it. Guess where it was broken up? Here (in a old fashioned sort of way I find that quite satisfying to tell the truth ) in a yard that was fully qualified to rip out its asbestos and lead paint.
