Even though we live in the bush, I rarely see a mouse not even in the barn!, maybe it's the 7 cats in there that call it home.

Our problems come slightly larger than mice, that's why our cat population went down by 2 last week, we have a beastie called a "fisher", it's one size down from a wolverine, and they seem to have a taste for cats, we never see them come or go but the tracks in the snow are unmistakable.

General rule is, stay away from them, they have a dreadful temper, they can land you in hospital in an instant.

Thanks all, just an update,

Well it looks like the mouse has for the present legged it from the greenhouse ok but this afternoon i went out and fed our Blackbird and as i looked out the kitchen window there eating his food, low and behold the little devil sitting enjoying it in broad daylight, so at least i have seen him/her

Oh well if you feed birds you are asking for it,

After watching the video on the youtube link, there is a clever Mousetrap on there using a paper tube and a bucket, now why did'nt i think of that before i spent £3.99 on a trap!!

Re the cat, we have one and very nice he is too but he is the source of all of our mouse/rat visitations. He brings them in, particularly in the summer, where more often than not they escape his clutches. The cat can be see for days after sitting staring at a cupboard or other nook and cranny (gives the game away a bit). We assume he eventually catches what he brings in but sometimes we catch it ourselves. As for rats - mostly they're dead but it's surprising how lively an apparently dead rat can be!

BTW what is the common name of an HS121?

Ok you might want one grown up a bit, but at this time of the year there's lots of doggies (quite a lot of Jack Russell Terriers) in the animal shelters wanting new homes.

Meet Snoopy, our recently acquired 1yr old JRT/Corgi cross, the waggiest tailed and lickiest tongued dog around, with a good amount of retriever in him as well as he love playing fetch and returning it straight to us. But if he saw a rat..............instinct will kick in.
