I saw the Shuttle and ISS last night

A brilliant double star travelling almost overhead W-E just before the shuttle docked

We did also. The wife and I were walking back from Tesco about 1820 and saw a slow moving bright object with no strobes or beacons. I have a fancy little application on my iPhone that identifies all stars, planets and satellites.

I had a feeling it was but I checked on the phone and it confirmed it as the ISS.

First time Ive ever seen it.

At the time the shuttle was with it and ready to dock half an hour later.

Looking through binoculars I could clearly see a 'double star" the smaller bit to the front (East)

Funny thing, I looked at the local news page on the net and it mentioned a last chance to see Discovery and explained about the docking and gave the time as 18:38. I glance at the clock and it was 18:37

The ISS appears tonight at 19:15 ish but will reach a max of 47 degrees while last night it was 66 degrees.

Funny I was thinking this the other day...what are the future plans for any manned missions anyhwere ???

Is it back to disposable launch vehicles.

When the Shuttle came about they said each machine was good for 100 missions but they've not achieved that

If I remember correctly its staying up there and operational, but it will hbe supplied only via russian Soyuz rockets.

I don't watch Topgear but caught the end of it last nite while changing channels and there was an amazing Moon rover on there, what a piece of kit! ok it cost $4.5 million and its a shame it will not be used as we are not going back to the Moon,

I saw that, the thing that concerned me though was just how big and heavy it was. I don't think anyone has anything capable of taking it to the moon anyway
