Oh, yes, that I remember very well! Our milkman - would you believe his name really was Ernie - normally arrived about midday but on Christmas day it was nearer 2pm because just about everyone insisted he had a Christmas drink with them. My mother took pity on him and always gave him a miniature to drink later but I still remember him zigzagging along the road completely plastered pulling his electric hand cart behind him    Just couldn't happen today. :(

next to the other transport models I have in the office
Is the office at home? Or are you another one hiding your eBay purchases at work like one of our other members?

Rob,

Go on mate. Treat yourself. Ya know ya wanna.

Ian,

The models are at home. Safely away from p!ss takers. I could never get away with having such 'geeky' possessions at work. I'd never live it down. :hide:

My secret is safe here amongst you lot. ;)

Say nothing.. I've just taken delivery of something very much like this..

http://www.davesdiecastmodels.co.uk/rou ... -2717.html

First one is like 36201 but is Corgi and without the trailer and the second IS 23306. I never thought in a million years I'd be buying bus models. My life is ended :'(

They're great though. Just hope I don't get caught driving them around my desk!

No.. I wish! That was pure coincidence. Both models I got from ebay and hadn't seen that site before. I won't forget the name though and may 'cough' go for the red Routemaster with trailer at some point in the not too distant. Fortunately, there are fewer 'aviation based' buses than aircraft models I'd like have so it could work out cheaper in the long run. In the meantime, I think SWMBO is about to disown me.. she's convinced I've lost the plot

All you ever needed to know about BEA buses:

Only ever saw the blue/white versions (not the red ones mentioned by Dave)
http://www.yellins.com/transporthistory/Bus/airport.htm
http://www.countrybus.org/RMA/RMAa.html

Remember these driving down the A4
http://www.countrybus.org/rf/RF6.htm

My search also produced:

And what you always wanted? :dunno: 8)

How sad is this thread getting (sorry Eddie)

The 4RF4's are popping up all the time on ebay (Matchbox/Lesney) in various states of use.. not that I've been looking you understand :worried:

That Routemaster with trailer you found on ebay with a 'Buy Now' of over £30 is a fiver more expensive than it can be bought new/boxed. This 'bus' lark is as cut-throat as buying diecast aeroplane models!

As an aside, the Cobham bus museum will open at Brooklands (directly opposite G-APEP) this August as the London Bus Museum (or London Transport Museum.. can't remember what the wording on the building says now!) :) I'm looking forward very much to seeing the BEA 4RF4  Question is.. Cobham have to move out by May and the new location at Brooklands doesn't open until August.. it may go further back. What will happen to the collection in the meantime. Answers on a postcard *-)

EDIT: Found this on the red Routemaster.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/15218213@N ... otostream/

Making that blabbery sound with you lips, and spitting all over the table ..... ;)

I know the feeling when you suddenly hear the sweet voice of your loved-one saying: "...What are you doing dear? ... Don't you have anything better to do?"
