The models are at home. Safely away from p!ss takers. I could never get away with having such 'geeky' possessions at work. I'd never live it down.

Am I right in assuming that these are old models, weathered to hide/disguise superficial damage rather than new models so weathered? I guess so as the seller says runs well in both directions.. something you'd expect a new one to do! Still.. it's a good way of 'recycling' what would otherwise look rough

I once saw a brilliant diorama where a rail enthusiast had, after many years accumulated many damaged model locos, wagons and carriages.

So he cut them up and repainted them as a scrapyard with dumped rolling stock so partially cut up and many axles, wheels etc stored in various piles on site.

That model looks nice mate. Keep your eye on that one. I bet the bidding war will start near to the end of the auction as always. There's plenty out there though. Don't pay silly money. To give you an idea, the one I bought is a fully working model that was professionally weathered.

The model has been detailed with wire handrails to the cab front and wire handrails to the cab doors, the lima couplings have been removed and pipes and 3 link couplings added to the bufferbeam, and snow ploughs fitted to both ends. Finally brush weathering is applied to give a 1970's look

I paid £25 delivered.

Not sure about all the models but mine is certainly an oldish one. How old I have no idea. I do know that companies can weather them like mine pretty much from brand new.

I don't keep my finger on the pulse with this sort of thing even though I love to see a good rail setup. Both yours and the one Rob is watching look great and I'd be pleased to own both (notwithstanding the fact I don't have any rails) I've no idea what the price is for a new engine like either or if they can still be bought. As long as you're not paying through the nose for something on it's last legs, this sort of thing makes a lot of sense
It's surprising what a box can add to the price of these things. I paid £5.99 for that BEA Airside bus.. brand new but unboxed and the cost of one with a box is a tenner more! Thing is, the beauty of having a box is that you can see the model in it without having to take it out and get it dusty. Mine came through the post in an Ibuleve box which really made my other half titter. She wondered if I was buying drugs online
