The military do 22 yrs. We do 30 and do shifts as well.
I can only speak from personal experience but the RN don't stop and drop anchor at night because it's dark! Neither were we at home in between shifts While it's true not all branches work shifts under normal cruise conditions, many do and I was in one of the branches that did. We did shifts alongside too unless we were in a home port and all this for much, much less pay than your average Bobby gets. The only real similarity between the two is the colour of the uniform
I thought that would be enjoyed
Oh.. that hammer of Colins has broken. I bought the BEA RMA Routemaster with trailer and a BOAC van last night!

Tell you what mate.. it's a darned good job they don't do warships I could go for a train on a bit of track (easily as it happens) but SWMBO would definitely start getting nasty. The beauty of 1:400 aircraft is they fall outside her radar. The buses and van will be a little more difficult. Clutter.. that's the answer. She's no idea what's new and whats not
Must be about 3 years ago now, perhaps a little more.. she came into the toyroom with my dinner.. looked at the tv I was watching and said 'How long have you had that'? The answer was 'about 18months'
Colin.. I'm sending the hammer back and asking for a full refund
