Hi Folks

Rick -
I should have directed you to BT's own speedtester,
as it provides additional info, plus parameters specific to your contract type, (not displayed for BT Home users).
Try - BT's Broadband Performance Tester

The following are all BT Business version specific -

Download, install, and run the BT Business Broadband Desktop Help Tool

Report output to either -
BT Business Fault Report
BT Business broadband and internet forum

PS
If you've got a BT router, use that,
as it'll give them less excuses to fob you off.

Hi Paul

Been on the phone to BT again this morning.

They went through loads of tests and didn't admit anything, just kept saying it's probably my equipment/wiring

They have done an SNR reset (I think thats what they said and i have to wait for it to stabalize before they can class it as a fault)

I will keep you informed (my downstream no longer says 288 kb) now says 5088 kb but still get 135 kb in bt test.
will try it later.

did a screen capture of bt test but as it's java the screen capture was empty! (Had closed tester by the time i noticed  )

Regards
Rick

Daft Question Rick, but have you got the original BT line filters? These are generally better than the ones that come with the routers.

Hi Ben

Yes mate have brand new BT line filter.

Since this morning's BT phone session it's now finding a speed and working reasonably well.
So i think once a few days have passed it will be fine again.

about 3.4 mbps currently but snr is at 1.7db so i expect it to settle at around 6 or 7 db eventually (If i'm lucky)

Many thanks to everyone that helped as i was losing the plot

Regards
Rick
