Seems like the Avengers are just the 350's rather than the exisiting 200 which the Navy don't operate *-)

Shame about the Jetstream I thought they might at least have kept the T3s (Jetstream 31) for now :(

Hi Garry

They pulled the T3's ages ago as the radar was vastly inferior to that fitted in the old T2's (Thats how i understood it anyway)

Thats why we had the proper Jetstreams back for a new lease of life for a couple of years ;)
wonder what they fitted in the beech as far as Radar goes ???
Regards
Rick

The T.3s were due to soldier on for a few more years as comms aircraft but were rapidly retired a few years ago, allegedly after a certain Air Marshall threw a hissy fit at being flown around in an aircraft with Royal Navy on the side of it...
There's certainly some truth in that as they were the only Jetstreams to have their radios upgraded to continue flying in Europe once the nation state waiver ran out for the old frequency spacing.

Rick's right to say the T.3 radar was totally unsuited to the role required and I don't think they even did a year as actual training aircraft on 750.

Thats a sad state of affairs.

I always pop down to Culdrose for a quick spotting session when I'm on holiday in Newquay.

This time I have an excuse not to go.
