Hi Dave,
I didn't know Peter had passed away!, he was one of the best, an absolute gentelman of the first order, I flew hundreds of hours with him.

last month I received an e-mail informing me that Cptn Pete Hill had passed away as well, he and his wife Leslie, also a Vanguard Cptn, were our only husband and wife team, Leslie was captain of the Argosy that crashed at Belfast, can't remember which one it was, but I ended up there with G-EP to transport the salvaged engines etc back to EMA.

Can't watch the video :'( I only have dial up, must find someone to D/L it for me

Robbie.

Hi Robbie

There was an article about Leslie flying Argosys in Aircraft Illustrated ot perhaps Air Pictorial many years ago. She didn't look like what you'd expect an Argosy pilot to look like :-O

Thanks for that Dave. A lovely bit of film especially as she comes to a virtual halt right by the camera.

The old Vanguard is my next favourite a/c after the '10

Hi Garry..

I had a copy of the VC10 landing last week. Not sure of it's origin but it wouldn't play on this pc and didn't like playing on my 'full size' DVD player either *-) Eventually got the DVD to run on one of my old pc's so tried to copy it but the copy ran rough. All I can say is that A4O's landing was more serene than either ASYD or PEP  Not 100% sure but I think she may have had rather more runway to play with in the 80's. BAC had only recently closed (in the grand scale of things) Weybridge and the assembled dignitaries watched the arrival from the roof of the old control tower. I'll see if I can get a better copy ;)

Robbie.. sri you didn't know of Peters passing. I'll try and find exactly when it was and what the circumstances were. His family have been in touch with Brooklands to ask if we had any film of the landing which is probably why that youtube vid was released. There is more footage of PEP's arrival (which was on the same DVD as A4O) but it was quite poor quality.

HI Dave

I was thinking earlier about when I used to fly into LHR and A-4O was there then and the runways was pretty well still intact with a longer usable length, although not the full amount? so I quess it would have been more serene. She even went into one of the Scottish Islands...can't remember which one
