This South American downhilling is certainly taking the sport to another level.

Fearless or wreckless? Who cares..Very impressive I'd say.

Look out for the stupid pooch who nearly gets squished early on in the clip.

I think I'll stick with my insanely boring road bicycle, thank you very much.

35-40 years ago I would have loved to have a go at that. :agree:

A bunch of the kids I grew up with back then were doing 'mountain biking' before the modern term was even thought of although we called it 'cycle scrambling' and we set up a course on the hillside of a local piece of woodland. Bikes were regular street/road race bikes of the time fitted with 'cow horn' handlebars (no suspension in those days and only 3 gears(Sturmey Archer) or 5 if you were fancy enough to have derailleurs!)

We had a 'cycle speedway' track in the local disused marl hole too (a marl hole was an opencast site used for the extraction of a specific form of clay which was a light grey in colour and as sticky as glue when it was wet).

Happy days! ;)

Add ten years or so for me...there was new housing estate going up locally, lots of soil piled up, so for a while we had wide handlebars and did 'scrambling' over them; it was just beginning to be called 'motocross'. We soon got fed up and went back to our main caper - 'Touring' bars upside down to give a clip-on effect and a ten speed gearset with the lowest available and the highest available, and some in-between to fill the gap. Then we climbed one side of a steep hill (1 in 7 or better) and came barrelling over the top as fast as we could pedal. My speedo usually said about 35mph at the top, and at the bottom it was well past 40, hard against the stop. :-O B-)

Too right, we made our own fun in them days.

PS What they need there is a boatload of Portuguese, to stand across the track until the last second...

 weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I had a Stingray Schwinn.
Friends and me used to rife through the woods when I was a kid along the high ridge of a creek that was about 20 feet or so above the water.
It was known as bloody gorge.... That's because the creek bed is made up of red clay. My eldest sister gave new meaning to it when she was riding the trail and clipped a bush - wanked too hard on the handle bars sending her over the edge. She landed in the creek with a compound fracture to the leg. It was in winter season, her luck too, the cold water kept her from bleeding to death mates. :| :( It's somewhat remote and took the paramedics a while to reach her.
Tough cookie she is. Another time she had a car land on her pushing her away from under it though. but it crushed her hand built Paramount. THAT really ticked her off. Stupid kid joy riding her dads car and drove through a red light got hit and rolled. She suffered a broken arm and collar bone but no long term effects. I don't think the insurance company ever got over writing a check for 3 grand though. They kept insisting it must had been a motorcycle when she claimed 3000. damages on a "bike"
And yet another time crashed snow skiing, got a mild case of amnesia from that. Went to visit her after.... *-) She knew she was making a salad but couldn't remember what the name of stuff she put in it.
She's still a spoke head. through and through

BOT ..She's seen these types of videos and thinks they're out of their minds. I get a kick out of ...... watching from safe distance of course.

As if gravity was not propelling the the rider fast enough to kill himself you can hear him pedalling like mad, how his head missed those last few telegraph poles is a testament to his skill or lack of imagination!
