Short Belfast video - flight to Las Palmas

Post by DarrenL »

Something I've not seen before - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiI0LhFiCaQ

Bouncy landing at the start and gets a bit of wiggle on during take off at the end.

To my shame I don't really know a fat lot about the Belfast, so enjoyed that muchly. :)

Just been to http://www.justplanes.com/ to see what else they have on their Youtube channel. Some very interesting short vids there, including one of Buffalo Airways with their C-47s, C-46s and DC4.

I have the DVD of that Belfast flight from 2002. (Just before HeavyLift UK went tits up!) It's largely in-cockpit...mostly boring, apart from that opening sequence. Final destination is Dakar, Senegal, (Africa.) Then back to Southend.

On the sequence showing the rear loading from the side...is that an optical illusion or does it have a tail bumper wheel?

Yes, they do have a bumper wheel. You don't get that on a Herc! :)

I wonder what's happening with G-HLFT now?

I think Heavy Lift are being wound up and the Belfast was sold, however someone owes ramp charges at Carnes airport where she is based so its currently going through the Aussie courts, likely she may be scraped on site to pay the ramp charges which seems nuts. Last photo on A.net is August Last year.
