Hi,

I only worked with Leif on a few projects, Llanbedr, Vickers Valiant and lately on the Belfast. It is strange to miss someone you've not spoken to or seen but true nevertheless.

Missed but not forgotten.
Regards,

Degsy

Hi Degsy,

I was helping Leif recreate the Gloster airfields, namely Brockworth/Hucclecote and Moreton-Valence a few years ago. Leif was providing memories from his youth and also photos, partly through a friend of his. I never finished the airfields for him partly due to lack of time and partly because I am perfectionist (or would at least like to be!) and didn't want to release something where I didn't have so much research material as I would have liked. Feeling rather bad about that now as I know it meant a lot to him as his own father had worked there in the design loft. Kinda feeling I should have another crack at it as a tribute to him.

Shocked along with everyone else!

I hope this does him justice...

"High Flight"

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent lifting mind I have trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

(John Gillespie Magee, Jr)

RIP

Rather late with this as I've only just found out... I've had no dealings with Leif other than to see his contributions on here and over at the Pond, now Britsim; it is sad for us but tragic for his family, doubly so when so unexpected. RIP Leif and sincere condolences to his family.

Regards,
Chris

Not been here in a while and shocked to see this news.

Leif and I exchanged opinons on a few occasions and he always seemeed to be a good person - I would have liked to meet him on "On the corner of walk and dont walk somewhere on US1" and go to a Nellis display.

Taken from his family far too soon.

Enough.
