Pure maths
I don't know why folks have trouble with maths, it's quite simple really -
1 has 3 letters in it
2 has 3
3 has 5
5 has 4
6 has 3
7 has 5
8 has 5
9 has 4
0 has 6
And the sum of 1 to 0 is 41, which is the answer to life.

Hmmm, I could have sworn the answer to life, the universe and everything was 42.Airspeed wrote:And the sum of 1 to 0 is 41, which is the answer to life.

Probably so, Larry, but I forget things easily.
Maybe they dealt me one short at the start of my life!

I think they did, Mike. You missed out 4 in the listAirspeed wrote:Maybe they dealt me one short at the start of my life!
And if you add the number of letters together you do get 42, not 41.
And it still adds up to a rubbish theory, however you do it

Re: Pure maths
Extracted from post to Adage topic;
Possible reasons for omitting 4:
An ex-bean counter, I often answered "How much profit did I make?" with "How much would you like to see in your accounts?"
It also pained me that 4 has four letters. If I'd really thought about it, I would have discovered the 42 thing, but making sense is not really my thing nowadays.

Well, you certainly entertain us, Mike and that's what 'counts'!Airspeed wrote:We live once, are a long time dead, so I stumble along the paths less travelled in the hope of entertaining myself.
