Have you chaps noticed the new TV advert for the Thomson 787? Did you also notice what looks like a BEA red cheatline Viscount in the ad? *-)

Indeed mate.. the turbo prop hadn't gone unnoticed ;) Not sure it's a Viscount though.. the windows look round. Not sure about it being a BEA cheatline either but I've seen the ad

Hi Dave,

I wasn't meaning the first one (at about 9 seconds, looks like a proteous) But the later one at about 39 seconds... it's definitely a BEA cheatline Viscount... :)

Mornin' all

My money is on a Brit for the first and agreed Viscount for the second

I pounded the steps of a Brit toooooo many times in 1970/73 during RAF service to forget that Proteus shape 8)

Geoff

I've just realised that I'm missing out. Because of my shifts I've got into the habit of only watching recorded programmes and skipping ads. This is dreadful. I want to see the Thomson Dreamliner ad :(

But I have just watched BBC Breakfast live this morning and I saw a Braniff BAC 1-11 which has cheered me up

Yep.. agreed Ben. I looked all over the shop for that one last night and couldn't find it. Only seen it once on the box.. there are multiple versions.. and pinged the Viscount. I was gonna say something to the missus but then I thought.. why bother  BEA Pin has never been my fave but hey.. a Viscount is a Viscount ;)

garry,
I thought for sure you'd know what it was, (the first one) since you've painted nearly every ac designed for flight sim.
Some that never saw the light of day!

What threw me was the windows are round, but the windows on a Viscount are oval, (or, elliptical) in shape

The Viscounts I've seen with a red stripe,? the window touches the edge of the stripe at top and bottom.
But with the AC in the video there is quite a bit of paint beyond the top and bottom of the round window.

Not that I know what I'm talking about ..

Hi Joe :hello:

The Viscount windows are very big so often they cover more of a stripe in those styles. The Brit windows are elliptical too but not as extreme as the Viscount and more rounded at the top and bottom and can look circular at times. The real give away on the red stripe clip is the engine front and spinner but only a sad git like me would notice that straight off :$
