A Simple Scenery Project ...
For those looking for an easy project in scenery design for FS here's an example......

Shouldn't be too much to devlop the AI traffic either if the figures on flights are right....
(I just liked the first bit of the approach plus the penguins)

There was a time when the Beeb could be trusted as 'a reliable organ of record'...sad to say, it is now down there with the worst of the tabloids - any sensation, any smear will do, including the purely racist one about having to seek help from the Chinese.
If they wanted to, they could write a positive story about how all the nations involved in Antarctica help each other, and not just because they signed to a treaty to do so.
Why does the Beeb consistently refuse to do that (report from a positive angle) ?

I see John's point. Shouldn't be too difficult to knock up a few cones on the ice
I think their report stated the obvious. Aim low and you stand a better chance of achieving the flights. The year they planned 4, they made 4

Well there are some buildings and some disturbing large ice peaks nearby but on the whole its not the most immersive FS experience I can point to.....DaveB wrote:Which begs the question.. is it really worth downloading a penguinless ice runwayI think not

Re: A Simple Scenery Project ...
You know it's funny as hell that the US has been flying Antarctic resupply missions for 60 years (it's a little thing called "Operation DEEP FREEZE") and has gotten almost 10 times their 2009 flight goal in every year. In fact, they've been EXPANDING the number of flights and the sizes of aircraft. Up until a few years ago, only the specially-equipped LC-130's were allowed down, now they're landing C-17's on the ice and considering putting C-5's down there, especially at McMurdo Station because the ice has been thickening to the point they can make it stable enough and the runway long enough for it.
So maybe it's just the Aussies picked a very bad place to put their expensive ice runway and not that "Global Warming" is to blame. I find it funny anyway since the Antarctic Ice Cap has been growing for the last 3 decades.
