Have a look at this picture

Post by afqr2007 »

Hi,

Have a look at this picture of the 787 at frankfurt

http://www.flickr.com/photos/axel_j/812 ... /lightbox/

Now is it me or does the shape of the nose on the 787 a little like the comet.

Probably just my eyes playing tricks

I guess there are similarities but it wouldn't have struck me had you not mentioned it :)

The 787 nose having the same hideous ugliness as the Comet has been mentioned by a few people in various forums

I suppose all aircraft designers have bad days

I can see where you're coming from, it's the nice curve at the top and down over the windscreens.

Looks good (relatively speaking for a modern aircraft!)

No Paul, just go and lay down for a while ;)

I must say this aircraft is growing on me like the A380, with the 787 is those wings! and the A380 wanted to be a longer fuselage forward from the wings, just my opinion of course :hide:

I agree about the A380 it is growing on me but a think a longer fuselage all round really would improve upon it.

But as for the 787 well i fell in love with it since it was first pulled out of the hanger. Got to love them wing.

Yep...the 787 wings does change things.

With a normal wing the aircraft would be hideous, but with that long slender wing, bent into a partial curve as it take flight make the overall appearance of the type embarrassing. :-O

I just hope, that if ever I have the misfortune to be booked on one, they supply bags to put over the head so no one will know. :hide:

I must say though 787 pax are very lucky, because having boarder through an air bridge, sitting inside they are a member of the privileged few who don't have their eyes assaulted by it's external appearance.

I doubt if we will ever see many on mainstream TV as any films that feature the type will have to carry an 18 certificate. *-)

The Thomson/TUI advert is bad enough and it's not real. :worried:

8)

The A.380 will benefit when the -900 is built, sadly they won't be able to build a super long one. Double decker's always suffered from being fat and inherently ugly (Boeing 377 Fatocruiser) but the 380 is not bad considering the difficulties in being so far away from a slender tube.
