D-Day carrier pigeon found.

Post by Paul K »

Forget the Spitfires buried in Burma, this is much more interesting. ;)

I wonder if they will crack the code and find out what the message is.

Hi,

What an incredible find and story,

As one who used to keep racing pigeons many years ago, i used to have stray birds flying into my loft and was able to contact the owner by the number on the pigeons leg and depending where the race started i used to be amazed how far from home some of these birds where flying to, at least they know the birds date of birth! so they may be able to find out where it was bred etc.

Lets hope they decipher the message as i think there maybe still some of the old code breakers alive, whether they will come clean and tell us what it said is another story!!.

Cheers,

Roger.

I say give the Bombe at Bletchley Park a crack at it. :agree: Fascinating stuff, codebreaking. :) Of course, we also had Carrier Pigeons doing their bit during the war. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TotC0Ql8 ... re=related
