Well, well, well. It looks very likely that we've met then, Eric!

I've just checked and in June 1991, I was the Cabin Service Director on this little trip. The 10th was a Monday so it was all weekdays.

Inbound from Singapore on 02/06/91

10/06/91 BA085 LHR-SEA
11/06/91 BA085 SEA-YVR
13/06/91 BA085/084 YVR-SEA-YVR
14/06/91 BA085 YVR-SEA
15/06/91 BA084 SEA-LHR

Outbound to Johannesburg on 20/06/91

That was an easy trip! Only one double sector and no bus rides. Wow, you'd have had a happy crew on that one

Blimey! The 10th is distinct possibility because the 2nd week in June was often my preference for a holiday. You weren't the one who refused to serve me with my 20th can of lager and treble scotch were you? :guinn: *-) EricT

If it was that week, Eric, it would have been on 13th or 14th. On the 10th and 11th the BA085 called at SEA first. I can tell that because the crew never transitted on that route due to flight time limitations. So if I slipped at SEA on the first day, I would have handed over to another crew to take it on YVR. The second day I would have taken over the flight from London for the hop to YVR. There wasn't a flight on Wednesdays so the Thursday was the first flight that followed your route and I would have just taken it for the short hop from YVR to SEA. I doubt that I could have upset you too much in that amount of time! :worried:

Check your photos to see if you took a photo of the CSD

Landed at Heathrow this morning and there was a 767 from Edinburgh sitting next to us at gate 505, and it looked fairly full.

So many bits of this thread to respond to:
,I remember flying with BA in a 747-400 from Heathrow to Seattle via Vancouver in 1991
I did that route on 16Dec1983 - weird when most people got off at Seattle and just a few people went on to YVR. Not allowed off at SEA so a quick bit of spotting from the front steps.

Re the 767s. BA are currently using them on Shuttle flights. Subtle difference to the transatlantic flights is that they are up to FL340 well before Nottingham. And as for 767 flights in general, there are many (-200 and -300) out of Europe each day wending their way across the pond: United/Continental, US Airways, Delta, American, Air Canada. Amsterdam seems to be a favourite destination. Certainly some (eg American/Air Canada) also operate out of Heathrow. Delta use the 767-400 which shows up on the online FR24 but Delta also use a fleet of 767-300 which are not full ADSB and hence don't show. Recently United have started using half a dozen or so 767-300 into Munich that have never been seen before in Europe since they were customised for the Hawaii route (seating plan).

As for the 787, seems like sightings over Europe are mainly non-US (Ethiopian!!!, Polish, Qatari). Considering the US 757s disappeared until the appearance of winglets and also some 767s now have winglets, I reckon the older Boeings are going to be around for a while.

Enough information.

Ian

The central wing box of BA's first Boeing 787's (G-ZBJA) is being manufactured and it is due to enter the production line in March. G-ZBJB/'C are following close behind.

The BA 787 deliveries are due to decimate the 767 fleet, with, I guess, the small number remaining being on domestics and European.

As for the Trans Atlantic, the 767 is one of the more common in our area and has been since the mid 1980's been replacing the TriStar and DC 10 size aircraft as well as A.300/310. It also opened up new routes. American use more more 767 over us than 777

Talking to a BA guy at Heathrow and he's said the 767 on the Edinburgh route is because they're using the A321 on the Belfast route they took over from BMI and and you can't get a 767 into EGAC. They had capacity in the 767 fleet and Edinburgh is the most economic shuttle route to use it on. So there you go. :)

Thanks gents for all the info in your replies.
Ian,I didn't take any pics on that flight, partly because we were stuck in the middle seats hence no window view.
Incidently, some years later we were stuck in the middle seats of a Britannia 767-200 from Cairns in Oz to Gatwick despite requesting a window seat when checking in.It really p*ssed us off when most of those sitting at windows spent much of the flight with their blinds pulled down.I hate those centre seats. :) EricT
