Is the DC3 a payware addon? Are you fairly new to flightsim and or FSX? It just helps us pitch our replies at the right level.

The DC3 was freeware designed for use in FSX

I would like to think that I am computer literate but not qualified shall we say.
When things do not work out as expected, my limited abilities make it difficult for me to work why.
In addition, I am not familiar with computer/flightsim terminology.

I have been interested in flightsimming for about 3 or 4 years now attempting to relive my years in the RAF Coastal Command.

Thanks for that. OK, just so we can be sure, do you still have the files that were sent to you to install the DC3? Also have you any other thinks installed in FSX that you are worried you wouldn't be able to get again to re install?

While you're there could you also tell us a bit about your PC? You've mentioned you have two hard disks (one of which is an SSD) Can you let us know which one is the SSD and also how much space is free on each please?

I believe I still have the files sent to me for the DC3. (See below)

Not overly concerned about the Spitfire (no personal involvement there), besides I have only recently downloaded that, so I can presumable find it again and reinstall it.

The aircraft I had already removed.

My computer.

'C' Drive (SSD) 177GB free of 238GB

'F' Drive (Conventional hard disk) 465Gb free (Empty/formatted)

Expansion Drive 'E' 147GB free of 465GB I believe the data on this disk holds files/data for:-
DC-3NH-2
Douglas _DC3
PD_Shackleton
PD_SHA
pdsha920150
Douglas DC-3NH-2 for FSX - W (possibly the original files sent to me)

If you are happy that you have the files you need to reinstall the bits you want, go to the control panel in Windows 7 > Programs > "uninstall a program" and select FSX acceleration. Then restart the computer. Once you've done that, we'll need to guide you into some folders on the C drive which get left behind after the uninstall as these will need removed too. let us know when you get this far...

Am in process of uninstalling FSX but it seems to be taking an extraordinary long time and time is forcing me to close down shortly for today.

I have 'thawed out' my computer and successfully initially uninstalled FSX and FS9.

I await further advice/instructions.

Hi Hamish,

Next go into C:\program files(x86)\Microsoft\

I'm out at the moment, but somewhere in there should be a folder called Microsoft Flight Simulator X (or similar) there will also be one for FS9, but I can't remember the exact path. These need to be deleted.
Also, you will need to make sure you have the option in Windows 7 selected to view hidden files and folders as there are another few folders that will need to be removed...

If you're unsure, post back and one of the other chaps should be able to advise while im out.

There will possibly be a folder in ProgramData\Microsoft called FSX and in Libraries\Documents called "Flight Simulator X Files".

This seems to be an awful lot of trouble to correct corrupt entries in the aircraft selection window. That must have been caused by a rogue aircraft .cfg not the FSX installation.
