Suggestion for Airfix Re-issues - 1-11 & VC10
This morning I sent an e-mail to Airfix suggesting they re-issue the One-Eleven model in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the first flight. I proposed BUA & Braniff decals.
An additional suggestion was a that they recognise the VC10 retirement this year with a re-issue that included BOAC & the current XR808 scheme decals.
Maybe if a few people contact them they might take some notice.
Paul

They have been asked countless times so perhaps this will add to that.
The VC 10 sadly was modified to a tanker so BOAC is not really an option as many of the windows were filled...vandalism

I know, but you could incorporate the windows in the cheat line decal and remove the C/l HDU and make it a separate part or a plug for the BOAC version. Fill the slots for the wing pylons so you have to cut them out for the tanker version.Garry Russell wrote:They have been asked countless times so perhaps this will add to that.

Nothing looks worse than decal shapes for windows...which is why I didn't mentioned it
No airliner can be an accurate model without windows that are glazed holes.
In real life, for a start, they are not flush...something decal windows are.
Lack of windows and indented panel lines are the worse thing that have happened to plastic modelling in recent years, along with airliner cockpit hoods that make replacing the bars with stretch sprue more difficult.
At least this has the far more accurate delicate raised panel lines and a cockpit area to work with...just needs the missing windows opened out.
UI know the wing and engine pylons need modding, but the windows did exist before they were vandalised.
Fortunately, even though I don't have any Airfix VC 10 apart form a few parts I do have two pax fuselages and about 80 percent of a Novo Super

Some years ago I made my own VC10 C.1K out of card and balsa. The main reason I made it was for reasonable size - half way inbetween 144 and 72: not too small, not too big. I had to painstakingly paint on the windows.

Got any pictures? I'd love to see that!

I always liked Hellers 1/125 scale for airliners.
A 737 is a resonable size and the 747 was big enough to be impressive...they do an A.380 now
A VC10 in that size would be great.
There is a 1/72 resin VC 10 but after you've taken out a second mortgage to buy it, there's going to be a storage problem.

I have an original suffix VC10 model, complete with windows. eBay is your friend

I think it only cost £14 if I remember rightly.
Ben.
