Anyone Know This Plane

Post by dodger »

Good Morning,

While looking at the BN-2 Islander Review on Youtube yesterday i noticed this little Ultralight coming into land etc and i'm just interested if anyone can tell me what it is,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFjH0v-lli4

The screen sequence is about 2.55 to 3.00 minutes into the film.

Cheers,

Roger.

Looks like it's the American Aerolites Falcon by Aerosoft http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?a ... _aid=11242

Hello Gents,

Thanks Brian that's solved that question, looks a good model from Aerosoft be that it's a funny looking thing!

These chaps are brave fellows to my mind i see them in their Hand Gliders trundling by at our local airport and i have sat in one "on the ground" but no way would i go up in one, mind you Brian i have not got a Parachute in the the Robin i fly up in but at least i feel safer!

Best fly them in the sim!

Well Brian i bought the BN-2 Islander yesterday and i am waiting now for it to come though the post and that Review was a great help, if its as good as the other Alphasim models i will be well pleased, i say Alphasim as Virtavia are most of the chaps from Alpha,

Cheers,

Roger.

Hi Roger,

I flew in a microlight....just the once :worried: 2-3 years ago as a passenger for a quick trip from our local Dorset farm strip (Pymore Farm) along the coast to Lyme Regis. We climbed (eventually) to 2,500ft in order to appear on Yeovil Radar as there are a lot of military operations down here. It was very slow of course and at height the pilot let me take the controls for a few minutes and the thing I most remember was how heavy the controls were for such a small aircraft.

The other memorable thing was that whilst I was strapped in ready for the flight, the pilot then got out and started the 2-stroke engine from the OUTSIDE with a pull cord rather like a lawn mower :-O

However it was an experience but as you say, it does not convey any sense of security looking out through all the gaps at the side of the aircraft cockpit area which were covered with clear polythene side glazing and internal struts everywhere.

There are photos on the web somewhere of this aircraft which was a yellow and black Rans Coyote II registration G-MWUL.

By the way, I have the Islander from Flight 1 and I am very pleased with it

Regards
