Why? *-)

Its not the police's fault.

The root of the cancer lies with the justice system or should I say a complete lack of it.

I'm ashamed of that. :'(

All the hard work done by Police/Civilian staff so often gets let down when the offenders walk away from court with little or no punishment.

So true Eddie

I often hear people wondering where the police are and why they're not stopping this.

The reality is that they are and the courts let them go or at least are light on them

How many times do we see people of perhaps 18--20 with dozens of previous offences and immediately the sums don't add up

He should be able to clock up that much if he was locked away like he should be.

I often feel sorry for the police having to do a difficult job often without the full support of the authorites and without the appreciation of the public

If Judges etc didn't live in their cushy apartments and nice estates and had to live in a block of flats and see the unruly behaviour first hand every day, I'm sure they'd look at it a lot different.

But they are, as they have always been, out of touch with reality.

All we need is hard labour. Roads are rubbish, so round up the scum and get them doing something useful, oh and armed guards to stop them running off

Yes :agree: ...for the punishment part, but they need to pay for all the damage in full otherwise we all do

They'll pay for it in sweat if they don't have the cash. I think they still do this in parts of the USA? but could be wrong. Either way we all get something out of it :)

State government opposition has just suggested that, for a 12month test period, juries be allowed to recommend sentencing.
This would give the judiciary an idea of public sentiment.
Solicitor on the radio this morning said that this is not as easy as it sounds, there must be a lot more research.
Take something simple, make it "complicateder" :OB:
