112 has been available in the UK for many years now.I recall programming dial code restrict tables on PABX/Business Systems to allow extension telephones to call 999 and 112 which were otherwise barred from making PSTN calls.A good example of this would be a lift phone. EricT

Thanks for that, George. It'll give me extra peace of mind when I'm out over the hills on my mountain bike. I've just registered my number for the emergency sms service.
