Greetings.
Can anyone help me with what colour paint was used on RAF ammunition boxes in the 40s & 50s, please, and did they use gloss or flat finish?
I have a couple of equipment boxes, eg astrocompass, which are grey, but rather worn. They will stay as is.
But, my little air museum houses some ammo boxes, in Army colours, and in bad condition anyway.
I want to wire brush them, repaint, and use them as display cabinets for some of my non-instrument collection.
Hope somebody out there knows.

Re: RAF containers
Hi Mike
Sailors don't come into contact with ammo boxes much (well the didn't in my day) but I seem to remember them as being 'low shine' if that makes sense.. not high gloss and not matt. I could be mistaken though so use this advice with extreme caution

All the ones I saw in my time in the RAF were matt.
