Blue Islands The Demise of G-DRFC...and notes

Post by Garry Russell »

Wading through here will show several pics of Blue Islands ATR.42 G-DRFC which suffered a gear collapse landing at Jersey last year and was written off..

Just back after a major it no doubt contained many useful spares.

It has recently been parted out and shipped to the USA.

Remarkable is the intactness of the strip down with no pre cannibalisation and not a hint of identity removal.

The aircraft block the runway at Jersey most of the day, a Saturday. That evening it's place in the fleet was taken by F-HBSO of Atlantique Air Assistance.

The following day, the replacement was a Denim Air Fokker 50 (the usual source of cover), the aircraft rotating at times Later, F-HBAO returned, this time as G-ZEBS after being acquired by Blue Islands. This is, like G-DRFC, is a 320 and joined the sole -512 G-ISLF which does the LCY from Jersey and only occasionally appears elsewhere.

Recently, another Srs.320 has joined as G-ISLG and with three ATR.42 now in service, Jetstream 32 G-ISLB is now withdrawn and up for sale.
