Post by WhisperJet »

Gentlemen,

not very British, however classic American (or classic Swiss) I found this worth sharing here... :)

Hi Nick,

Just listen to that sound as she takes off, lovely,

There is also a nice film when this ends of the DDA Douglas DC-4 Skymaster worth watching,

Thanks for posting and sorry for pinching your post!

Roger.

That's gotta be one of the worst edited films I've seen! 8)

It sounded a treat though didn't it :tunes:

You may be right Re the editing Dave but isn't there something just totally wondeful about the the sight and sounds of a large propliner. If I was lucky enough to win the lottery I just know that one of my indulgences would be to charter such an aircraft for an unforgettable flight. :agree: EricT

Thanks Toby

Loved the sound. :excited:

A few years back I was riding my bicycle late and in amoung dark lanes

Then this beautiful sound came upon me. :tunes: I look up and there is a cluster of slow moving lights, an Atlantic DC 6B at about 10,000.

I stopped and just took it in.It was alive, not just a motion of a machine but a living entity. :)

I just stood there listening. :tunes:

This was about 1995/6 and whilst I indulged myself I was well aware that it was about ten years since I last heard an overflight like this and maybe I never would again. :worried:

Up to now I haven't, but the knowledge that it may never happen again made the moment all the more special, and alone in the cold dark of a winter evening with only the Stars and a DC 6 a magical snapshot in time. :)

I better don't show this to my parents - they've been with Swissair for decades... :hide: ;)

I agree about the editing, Dave - terrible cutting. :agree:
Yet still better than many of those youtube-videos that are more professionally edited - but add techno music as a "background"... 8)

A good weekend to you all,

Nick
