These guys are worth watching

They are the ones who did the Carvair and they also do a amoungst their extensive rang of kits, aDC 6 DC 7C, C-124 Globmaster II and a C-47 all in 1/144 scale.

Maybe like some others have two sets of props...that is for other versions to be released using the same basic tooling

An interesting read. That said.. I only see 1 prop on the kit shots and it's completely different to the ones shown on the original link (this one has a single, double bladed prop.. the other had 3 x small, 4-bladed props. Perhaps something jumped in shot that wasn't supposed to be there.

I remember in the early Carvair shots the decal sheet was lo quality and said DC 6 even though it was a BAF Carvair.

The sprue shots looked like modified DC6, they don't do a DC 4. When the kit came out the decals were better, said Carvair and the sprues were DC 4..probably modded form the six. Interestingly the Carvair doesn't have the shorted nose leg, shortened because it was dropped to allow the Carvair floor.

Instead they show you how to cut a piece out of the leg which makes it seem like there will be a DC 4...well they have the engines and tailplane modded so just a short version of the Six fuse with a modded fin will do it.

On later kits it's not unusual to have a whole host of unused parts for any given version.

I think the visible woman (shows all the innards) that Revell did a while back had a brain that wasn't used (for accuracy reasons) ...in the blonde version

Yeah.. a different combination again there.. left and right tractor spade ended and a single paddle. Very generous of them I must say. They obviously intend on giving the user the best possible choice with the end results being as accurate as possible. There's no kit made that I could finish looking accurate That said.. I hope I'd have made a better job of that VC10

Both the DC6 and 7 have two sets of props

The DC 6 has two types of nose cone

They are a company that's not afraid to try with subject matter and scope when they are produced.

I've built three of their 1/72 WWI aircraft. An SE5 a Camel and a Bristol Fighter. They produce variations on each aircraft to reflect different engines, props, armament etc. and due to the moulding process there are often extra parts that aren't used.
Each model has been well moulded flash free and very little or no filler needed.

The completed model is a mixture of the Roden kit and an Airfix one because I messed up parts of the Roden one. My fault not the kit's.

In my experience Roden kits are very good.

Edit. The part that hasn't been good has been the decals, which I found to be brittle and somewhat translucent. Look at the D on the fuselage.
