I did sign the petition, and have been bombarded by change.com with other petitions they think I should sign. I clicked on the "unsubscribe" link, and hope to hear no more from them.
Would it be more dangerous than any other aircraft that displayed at a show? I've witnessed a few crashes, including aircraft that were currently in service, and flown by experienced pilots.
A worthy petition!

Re: A worthy petition!
Statistically the Harrier had a higher crash rate than most contemporary fast jets, despite the most talented pilots being streamed to fly them. So yes the evidence would indicate a higher level of risk than other aircraft displayed at a show.Would it be more dangerous than any other aircraft that displayed at a show? The problem with the Harrier is that the thing that makes it an exciting airshow prospect is also the thing that makes it difficult to fly and from the CAA's point of view overly complex to maintain.

Thing is, the CAA is the official aviation safety regulator for the UK. If it doesn't conform to UK regulations wouldn't it be more sensible to address their concerns and adapt it to meet them if it can? It shouldn't be allowed to fly here just because it meets regulations in another part of the World, should it?
I wouldn't be very happy if a bit fell off on top of my head at a UK airshow, even if Americans didn't mind so much![]()
I mean, what's the point of having a safety regulator if laymen can challenge it's decisions?
