Saw this last night on telly, made me laugh and reminded me I had a bottle of the stuff in the cupboard too

Indeed! I'd seen one of the ad's but not all 4. Makes a change from bowel or bladder movement ad's or where there's blame, there's a claim

Love it!
Of course living in the Colonies I've never had a chance to sample Spitfire Ale but I've always liked their ads (both TV and print).
Back where I grew up there is a micro-brewery that is named in honour of the Captain of the Titanic as he was born in the city. Titanic Brewery used to run ads that said "Come in and sink a Titanic today!"

Beer adverts do seem to be of a better class of writer, I like the Bombardier ones with Rik Mayall as well. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQBAH_rfWLM

A favourite advert during the 2nd World War for a beer (Burton Ale) was 'Gone for a Burton' showing an empty chair, this was soon taken up by the RAF in a way of accepting losses so that it didn't hit home quite so hard.

Mention of the beer ads brings to mind what I think are two of the funniest ad wittiest ever. They were for Heineken and both were reversals of the original situation.Enjoy EricT

My absolute favourite, featuring the late Brian Pringle is a reversal of Eliza Doolittle.

And of course they were narrated by the late, great Victor Borge.Absolute gems.
