This is more a real-world story, but it ties in nicely. I was on the first leg of a trip to Portland aboard an A320. We were pushing back from the gate and the cabin was running the safety video. As the first engine started and power was switched from APU to engine generators the video system reset and the monitors returned to the stowed position. The flight attendant standing next to me said (jokingly) "The plane is a bit touchy today, but sometimes that happens. It is French."

It certainly made for the most entertaining preflight brief in some time.
When all else fails, manipulate the data.
