Croydon 1938
Came across this while I was looking for something else. Hope it's not a duplicate.

Re: Croydon 1938
Hi Mike,
That's a great 3 minutes of film, just to think that most of the early airlines are still with us! and also seeing those ladies wearing the fur around their collars,
I'm old [well not That old
] but i remember my Mum and Aunt's dressing in the same coats!
Thanks for posting,
Roger.

I had a look round the usual places, and all* the planes are available for FS9, in appropriate liveries, too.

Re: Croydon 1938
It highlights (for me) a good example of how backward we were in design. Look at the sleek lines of the DC2/DC3 and lumbering into Croydon comes the HP42!
Similarly.. while we were pushing out the Rapide at a great rate of knots.. our American cousins were producing the Beech 18. OK.. the Rapide was a tad earlier but production runs did overlap.

The DH Albatross was in service with the HP42, for a few months - an even bigger contrast, I reckon...

Re: Croydon 1938
I really enjoyed that, Mike. Thanks. My Dad lived in Waddon at that time and was a frequent visitor to Croydon Airport so would have taken the train from Waddon station like the folk in the film and seen all those aircraft. I doubt he wore a fur collar but his mum and aunts definitely did. Not only then but into the early 50s because I remember them.
Thanks, again for bringing back some memories of my Dad.

G-ADMC is a GAF Monospar, one of my favourite runabouts, and I didn't recognise it...don't know of a repaint for the JBK model though.

Or would that be a GAL Monospar?
