I hate iCloud. It's great if you do want to sync all your photos across all devices but I don't. I only want to carry a few albums on the iPad and leave the majority on the PC. So many times I found iCloud settling in to sync every image it could find and then running out of space because I hadn't filtered it properly. So I just do it manually now and iCloud is OFF!
Of all the solutions for transferring photos taken on the iPad, although it sounds daft, emailing it is actually very quick and easy involving just two or three touches. You are restricted to one picture at a time, though. But any compatibility between Apple and the rest of the world is a bonus and will have Steve Jobs turning in his grave at the thought of unfinished business
As always there are lots of different ways of doing things (less with Apple ) and as long as you know the options you can choose which one suits you best.
Ian,I'm with you here, but I emailed both pics together.Go to Camera Roll,Edit then tick the selected pics, then Share and select email.I'm probably teaching you how to suck eggs.ATB EricT
ps,I have to say that iCloud was very handy when we changed from the iPad2 to the mini.

Well, well. We both learned something new today. Thanks, Eric - I hadn't worked that one out myself
But this'll make you laugh. I just thought I'd try it out and I've spent several minutes wondering why I can't find the Camera Roll and having a senior panic moment thinking my brain's gone blank.
I just twigged that unusually I'm at the laptop and not the iPad! A very big sigh of relief there
Joe - I've no idea. There may be some sort of Apple photo hosting site but if there is it probably isn't compatible with any known display function It sounds crazy but I love my iPad more every day - some of the stuff the apps do and the way they do it is just so cool but you have to buy in to the Apple way of doing things and live in their world. Crossovers are not encouraged!
From what I see looking at some of the apps, they are either design to work only with Apple devices or in the case of one that claims to be able to xfer to a pc,you need a local wireless ntwk which I don't have.
For the number of times I'm likely to carry this function,I'm quite happy to use email, and as already mentioned, emailing multiple images from the iPad is possible.
Ian,another useful tip which you may already know,is that you can lock 'caps lock' by double tapping the shift key which turns blue until retapped.Handy for such times as inputting BBC etc.
Thanks again gents for looking at the pics and for the comments. EricT
