Oh, what sport!
Apologies, Gentlemen!
I was burning some Bibles today, no, don't worry, they were really old handwritten ones; nobody would have wanted them.
Anyway, whilst raking through the ashes, I suddenly remembered-of course! the Ashes! England narrowly won the Series.
So, CONGRATULATIONS, ENGLAND.

Re: Oh, what sport!
Congratulations to England, Mike? My retirement present to myself was tour of Australia and the Far East. We spent most of April 2007 in Oz shortly after England had been given a 5-0 thrashing in the 2006/7 Ashes tour and everywhere we went it was, "Poms? Ah, sorry about the cricket, mate!"Airspeed wrote: CONGRATULATIONS, ENGLAND.
You know I didn't believe they were sincere, either.

I think the smoke and fumes from those burning Babbles have got to you Mike. I don't think 3-0 (almost 4-0) could be considered a narrow win, a thrashing maybe!Airspeed wrote:England narrowly won the Series.
I listened to TMS via the internet for every day's play and it was a great and thrilling series. The Aussie's tried hard and gave us some thrilling matches but never quite got over the line. Eventually the team will gel together and become like the Baggy Green's of old and then we will be really worried.
I'm already looking forward to the re-match in November and we still have the one-day and T20 matches to go yet.

Re: Oh, what sport!
Bit of a dumb move on the players' part especially as the Oz press were still in attendance. Having said that I'm sure lots of rugby teams have committed bigger sins after a win and lets face it who amongst us hasn't had a sneaky pee while enjoying a few too many beers in the great outdoors! I know I have when the choice was pee against a hedge on a campsite or stagger 400 yards to the toilet block with a bursting bladder!Nigel H-J wrote:Congratulations indeed, but their behaviour a bit out of order to say the least!!

Just a nasty thought came to my mind with the players actions, Australia is somewhere below us!!!
Staggering 400yds on a campsite and peeing into a hedge is one thing but those who just come out of pubs and clubs - walk 30 yards then p*ss into a shop doorway or through the letter really annoys me!!!
Nigel.

Agreed, drunks leaving a perfectly equipped facility, then peeing in inappropriate places is pretty disgusting.
Peeing on the grass like that, was nothing, and I'm sad that Australian reporters stooped to making something of it.
I'm all for international bashing (see earlier post about putting the latest Oz prize on the pile with the rest of them), but let's keep it nice.
And just quietly, I was sincere about congratulations.
I don't really follow any sport, I just heard the toll from time to time and understand it finished at 3wins, 2draws.
If you hadn't cheated by manipulating the weather, it would have been 3-2.

It's a strange World.....the Brits served up a crushing defeat to Australia not so long back, now it's done a 180. Don't understand it, in such a short time.
