I dislike .rar, and 7zip.
Thankfully, I've only had to use 7zip a couple of times.
Long live WINZIP!

Sadly, many things are sent in .rar . I've never understood why :dunno:

Hello Garry,

I stand to be contradicted but rar has its origins in the Unix/Linux world. Zip was historically the compression system for DOS/Windows and *nix went with rar and tarballs (no, really  ). As time went by and the various operating systems started to talk better, rar made it way onto Windoze. Interestingly enough, zip is almost unknown on *nix. I'm afraid I don't really know why rar has become so popular. Maybe it's because of the Open Source movement and it's seen as more geeky than the olde worlde format. I suspect though that it's because it's more portable across OS's than zip. Not much consolation to Flight Sim blokes who live on Windows.

I was a registered user of Winzip on several versions of Windows. I had to look for an alternative as the other compression formats appeared and I also found and like 7zip. One of the "way cool" 8) things I really like is the ability to run installations directly from .iso CD images without unpacking them.

Of course, zip is built in to Windows these days but like too many Microsoft bits, only half done :-#

Hi Ben,

Well i broke down the files for this aircraft and re-packed them into smaller packs and they all went, at least i have not had anything "not sent" in my E-Mail.

I have yet to hear if the member received it all,

Easy when you know how ;)

Thanks for the help.

Roger.
