SARO were possibly the most innovative company in British aviation at the time, SR53 / SR177, SRA1 and the Black Knight rocket programme;
but then I could be biased, growing up a stone's throw from the Columbine hangar, and just a short way from where Sopwith built the first 'Bat boat'
