Bush flying prog

Post by J0hn »

I saw a trailer for a new series starting Tuesday, but it is on C4, so probably a tabloid-style load of tosh. However, i will definitely be recording and giving it a go, as it looks like my fave activity in FSX is coming to TV - getting in and out of tight, sloped runways halfway up mountainsides! :excited:

I do it in PNG (you should try - it's great fun, even just trying to find the strips, sometimes. It's definitely a challenge getting in and out in one piece, though) but this series is set in Indonesia (not too far away).

It's called "Worst Place to be a Pilot"

See the trailer video here:

I hope it's about the flying and not their personal lives, as it often is these days.

Much like this then.................

When the film was made, the Thai Air Force agreed to loan a Pilatus to the film director, but when they saw the strip they refused claiming the pilot was mad.

So they went out and bought a wrecked Pilatus and got it airworthy in 2 weeks.

I have seen some stupid stunts in my time, but few which rival that of the Super Cub on the Nevada mountain. Noticeable also that there were no apparent mag checks before the takeoff at 2 mins 30 or so. Probably explains why the accident rate in the USA is so abominable

This actually wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected it to be. Yes, they do turn every little event into a major sensation (although with this kind of operation there's plenty of that as it is) but less so than I thought they would.

I'll certainly carry on watching. Those PC-6 are amazing aircraft.

I'd recommend 'catching up' if you missed it. ;)

Here's a short PA interview with the Main Man in Papua:

I tried to do this yesterday, but just seemed to be going round in circles trying to avoid jumping through hoops just to watch it. Is there no equivalent to iPlayer which is so easy to use ?

It can be a pain - but I suppose it depends on what kit you have.

Our Samsung player has a "4OD" app, as well as the other channels' apps and it works far better than the other options such as on the PC or on my increasingly disappointing (and expensive) Panasonic 3D "Smart" TV.
