Hi Paul,
You obviously had a great day out amongst friends by the looks of your smile.

Slightly OT, but does anyone know of a "It's Hawg Wild" repaint for the Virtavia B-29?
I've found one for the old A2A (Shockwave) WOP model, & John Young's AI model at the usual sites, but nothing for the Virtavia.

Looks like I might be getting the paint brushes out then.

Yes, Joe, it was a good day. Lots of G.A. coming and going, and the usual Tiger Moths and Rapides giving pleasure flights. The British Microlight Aircraft Association was holding a fly-in so that was pretty interesting too. I also got to see this beauty in flight for the first time since she re-emerged as a Mk. I. Here she is warming up before departing for an airshow elsewhere;airboatr wrote:Hi Paul,

All in all a good day out, although my back was suffering as usual, with all the standing and walking.

I see A U.S. registered Cessna with the Liberator. business or pleasure I wonder.Paul K wrote: Lots of G.A. coming and going,
The SR-71 has a sentimental attachment for me. A man who I met by way of my trade worked on the J58's for years. he didn't talk much about it except to say he worked out problems with "the plumbing".
He (Al) and a friend of his, Neil, (both worked for Pratt) built a Stolp Starduster together, but by the time our paths crossed Al had given up flying after a close call
scrubbing the lower wing tip on landing one day. Neil was never much of a flyer, so they sold it to Bob. Who also works for Pratt & Whitney
Well,.. after Al found out about my love of flying, he asked Bob to take me up for a flight in the Starduster.
I got to fly her for a good portion of the time of the hour (plus) long flight.
...
Al passed away a couple of years ago, and Bob no longer keeps the Starduster at KLNA
Al in his hanger with his Stolp.

The hanger is gone too now .. another chapter closed.
..........
I can empathize with back pain.
In 98 I suffered a severe back injury that left me unable to walk , after 18 months I was released from bed rest.
... Sometimes there is a pain that.... well , I've digressed
Edit:
I just looked up N77AL and found that Bob has sold it !
Re: Duxford's AAM aircraft out in the open ( pictures)
Bed rest is fine by me, Joe. I could do with a lot more than I get
I like his little domestic area in that hangar, by the way. Beers in the fridge, or just soft drinks ?
Dave, yes please if you have the time and inclination. A Hawg Wild repaint would be just the job for the Virtavia B-29 ! Talking of which, I hear tell that Virtavia is going to release a service pack for the B-29. No idea when, though.DaveG wrote:Looks like I might be getting the paint brushes out then.
