We have just had a B17 southbound over the Wirral at about 1500 feet . Amazingly quiet

They do sound remarkably smooth don't they Chris.. not at all what you'd expect.

It hasn't shown up on flight radar so I don't know any details

Sally B was due to be at Blackpool today, so that was probably her. :)

I saw Sally B land at Cambridge around mid-day today. Refueling maybe ? Blackpool is a fair trip for her.

How did they ever manage to bomb Germany?? :lol:

Cambridge has a longer runway so perhaps they felt more at ease having a longer run-up without having to firewall the throttles.. due to fuller tanks :)

Yes, looking at Sally B's website the colouring was very obvious. I think its route may have been made a little tortuous by an emergency on the M56, only about 4NM from Liverpool Airport , with a threatened explosion from a propane tanker on fire , so that the usual VFR routes across the Liverpool Zone/ Manchester TMA have been shut
