Sadly the one you linked popped up as PRIVATE, and I wasn't allowed to watch it.
However, I did look at a detailed description of moulding the bearing in situ with Babbit, then drilling out the oil holes and chiselling the oil channel.
Thanks for ejekating me, and hats off to you for having done it yourself. I am impressed.

Well sorry about that, Mike. I didn't get the chance to be around for the bore process. I had work of my own I had to do. But I'm glad you got to see the whole process.
It's quite remarkable to think some guy working in a barn figured it all out way back in the early 1800's. (Inventing Babbitt)
I asked Bob (whom I was helping on the pour) how many miles did they get from a set of bearings... He said.
"About a hundred years" .. ... Bob's a funny guy.

It's a true story Guv!! It seems that these days they've wimped out and use motors. There's a good explanation of it here on Wikipedia. (I didn't think it polite to copy & paste). It does tax the mind to consider that all the vehicles, and all the building materials, and just everything gets landed this way.

It's very special place with an extraordinary history.
