Ayer's Rock...

I didn't feel I could proceed with the RTW till I had a look at Ayer's Rock...So I flew down there and back today:-


Here I am at the little airport nearby and the Rock can be seen on the skyline in the centre behind the airport building.


I took off again and here I'm approaching the Rock.


These next...


...eight pictures...


...were taken...


...as I circled...


...around...


...it.


And here I've set course back to Alice.


Here I'm making my approach back at Alice after a strong tailwind gave me over 200 kts G/S on the way back.


Safely back at Alice and next it will be Darwin.

I always understood there to be some restrictions on photography around Ayers Rock (or Uluru), I wonder if that extends to screenshots as well

Do You Need A Permit?

Yes...............1.2 If you want to capture aerial images of the Park for commercial purposes from
aircraft flying over the Park.

As Peter was taking the pictures for his own use and for our enjoyment I don't think at this time they will be chasing him for the money for a permit!!

Well I checked out that PDF file and read it right through...Glad I didn't do it first...I might not have gone or perhaps waited about a year for the appropriate permissions!

On 19 July 1873, the surveyor William Gosse sighted the landmark and named it Ayers Rock in honour of the then Chief Secretary of South Australia, Sir Henry Ayers.

Thanks for clearing that up Nigel. I remembered that there were some restrictions, but didn't know the details. I agree, Peter will probably get away with this!
