FS9 Sound fault??

Post by tonymadge »

Hi all, looking for some words of wisdom, I have had for a while a very intermittent "motorboat" sound when using FS9 it causes the frame rate to stutter. Just lately it is always there and now I have lost the jet engine sounds from most of HJG planes! DC9, 146 etc yet on the CV880.990 the engine sounds are as loud as before, odd or what??
I have turned down sound quality to low, I have turned down audio quality to CD 16 bit, I have tried a new 5.1 system in case the old one was playing up. I have tried both the creative card and the onboard sound card, yet it happens which ever is used/enabled. I have run out of ideas on this ....

I put FSX in to the PC a few weeks back on a different drive and it has no sound issues???

Any ideas as I am beginning to think I am not seeing the trees for the woods..

Sri Tony but I've not had anything like that happen for a L O N G time and it only happened on certain models.. not all. I'm sure the answer is out there.. just a matter of finding it.

Similar problem some years back on an earlier XP computer. Drove me crazy for a while. Turned out to be a dying video card. Still don't understand why the video card affected the sound, but after replacing the card with the same make and model, never happened again.

I have replaced the video card recently but the problem intermittent as it was was there prior to the swap. I have now adjusted the sound section in the FS9.CFGand at present it seems back to normal? Time will tell :)

Hope it stays good for you Tony.
May I ask why you were adjusting the FS9.CFG?
