Interesting Report On How EL AL Used Bristol Britanna

Post by Aharon »

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Please permit me to enclose a hyperlink as seen below showing an interesting report on how EL AL utilized Bristol Britanna planes for long haul flights.

Here is the link: http://propspistonsandoldairliners.blog ... annia.html

I have question for all of you: I see red word JET on the propeller engine covers of EL AL livery on Bristol Britanna but I cannot see red word below JET. Can anybody recall such word, please?

Thanks,

Aharon

Heady days in the 50's and 60's when the RAF flew Britannias and Comets based at Lyneham. I've been in the cockpits of both several times, but never actually flew in them.

I flew Luqa to Brize in an RAF Brit in Mar/Apr '74. I remember getting dripped on as we decended over the channel 8)

My first ever flight was in a British Eagle Britannia: London - Bahrain - Gan - Singapore. :)

My one and only flight in a Britannia was from Aden to Gatwick via Sharjah and Nicosia with BUA air trooping - it took 14 hours but it was worth it to get home after a year's unaccompanied tour.

I've never felt so frustrated....... died so frequently/spectacularly/or needlessly....... yet had so much fun, in a long time.
