Don't have experience of the Fokker or 146. The Mossie is very inaccurate is some areas, but looks quite nice.
Dave, were those silly issues resolved or are they still there ?

Some were fixed, others were not. TBH, I can't remember all the details now. I'd modded so much on mine I've lost track of what was changed!

Okay, thanks for that. I might get it, I might not. And that's final.

I have been waiting for the 748 for ages and in the meantime thought that the F27 might be a nice way to pass the time. I am on the verge of buying the 748 but will wait a while until any early issues are ironed out.

I noticed the JF sale so I went in and purchsed the F27 using my few points available - cost me a tenner. Is it worth it? For a tenner, yes, but at the side of Jan Visser's freeware C47 there is no comparison, sadly. First impressions of the F27 is that it hand flies quite nicely but the engines are far too powerful. Out of the box it climbs at around 3000 fpm accelerating to a heady 200kts and in the cruise it is easy to overspeed. It is also very "slippery" so slowing down can be fun. Also, and this is a beef with many flightsim models, the engines do not spoolup and down as quickly as in the real world. Having flown in many 748s, F27s and Viscounts I know this to be true. I am in the process of tweaking the cfg file and so far it has helped. A few more flights at cruising altitude with and without the autopilot will confirm to me whether this is a keeper or consigned to the hangar aircraft.

I think I remember seeing a comment over at SoH regarding the spool-up speed of the F27 as shown in the demo vid and JF/AH said it was WIP footage and they were in the process of slowing it down. I had a look and the prop did whizz off at an alarming rate  It has to be said though that FSim doesn't handle start-up or shutdown routines for this type of aircraft particularly well so anyone trying to get it 'real' has their work cut out.

As an aside.. this (for me) is the most disappointing FSIM Christmas ever. I've yet to buy a single thing and unless there's a late influx of new/different products added to current sales.. I won't be buying anything. It's a first and no mistakin' :-O

Dave, it wasn't the startup speed I was referring to (and I know that a lot of discussion goes on about this especially for the 748) but the speed at which the engines react to throttle changes. Some aircraft react so slowly that you have to hold on the brakes at the end of the runway before you dare to try take off :worried: I normally adjust the cfg file to increase the fuel flow gain which seems to help.

As far as Christmas pressies to self are concerned, surely there is something out there to tempt you ;)

Ah, I see what you mean.. the all or nothing effect

Honestly.. I've looked at every item on every sales page on the main sites (FSPS and PCA) and there is absolutely nothing taking my fancy. Damned annoying as I have a $5 discount code for PCA too  If I were feeling weak.. I may have considered the JF Hawk but it can't give me any more than I get with Rick's. Had the twin-hole Lightning been available.. I may have gone with that. As for the JF/AH Hunter and Javelin.. not interested even though they're not available yet. There's nothing I know of currently 'in development' that interests me either with the exception of the WBS Airacobra and to be honest, I'm more a fan of WBS than I am of the Airacobra.

Ah well.. the road tax is due on my Czech Roller at the end of Dec so the money I'm not spending on FS is no great hardship ;)

Oh dear, just as I was trying to build up enough courage with the F27 I then read the posts. :(( Just was not sure about this a/c as something told me inside hold off and wait.

Andy wrote in his thread
but the engines are far too powerful..
If they can be brought down to a more realistic level then I might consider, I know when I purchased the Captain Sim 737-200 it took off like a rocket and it was only when I was given new Static Thrust settings by Ian that made a hell of a lot of difference to the actual performance of the aircraft giving it a much slower and more realistic acceleration.

Ref: the 748, another aircraft that I am thinking of buying, having viewed YouTube watching the HS748 take off (the real one) the throttles are advanced as the aircrafts' brakes are released and they spool up just like Ricks' 748, watching videos of Just Flight 748 the engines appear to start up much faster and also the airspeed build up on take-off appears rather quicker than it should be.

I think if I do take the plunge with possibly the 748 then I will adjust the fuel settings in the cfg to that of Ricks' 748 and hope for the best but as for the F27 I am now more undecided than before. :wall:

Was unsure, now very unsure, soon expecting to be extremely unsure!! :help:
