Sad News

It is with a very heavy heart that I am having to write and let you all know that Dave Booker (DaveB) passed this morning 16th August. His daughter managed to get hold of me tonight, and as you can imagine they are all devastated, as am I. Dave, Alison and Helen are a great, strong family, and I really don't know what to say. I have no information to share at this stage, but I will keep you all posted. The world has lost a very fine gentleman indeed, and will be much worse off without him.

*UPDATE* 17/08/17
Chaps, I've spoken again with Helen tonight, and they would take great comfort if any of you wish to attend Dave's funeral. We don't have a date as yet, but it may be the 31st August, but very much subject to change. Obviously ill keep this thread updated.

*UPDATE* 19/08/17

Hello all,

Helen has confirmed the arrangements for Dave's funeral. It will take place at 10:30, Thursday 31st August:-
Streetly Crematorium,
296 Little Hardwick Rd,
Walsall,
WS9 0SG.

We need to get a confirmation of numbers together in short order, and the easiest way I can think to do it is a poll, otherwise we'll be trying to find out in individual forum posts.

I can't believe what I'm reading. These things don't just happen. I want to take a nap and wake to find that this was just a Merlot induced nightmare. Guess this is not a nightmare. Rest in peace Dave. (That's very difficult to write) :'(

I'm in total shock and deeply saddened. A true gentleman with not only a great knowledge, but also a wonderful sense of wit and humour. I have been fortunate to meet him in the past and to say he will be missed, is a massive understatement. I feel (as I'm sure we all do), that I've lost a very good friend.
My thoughts, prayers and condolences to his family.

Kevin :'( :'( :'(

Dumbstruck.
No mention of any illness in his daily posts.
I wonder if it was a road incident.
I'll miss you, Dave. RIP :'( for you... B)smk

Dear God, where did this come from? There was no hint of illness. Ben, yes, please keep us informed. What dreadful news. Sincere condolences to his family, and to all of us here too.

Rest in Peace, Dave B

This is a real shock and a tragedy for his family. I only met Dave once many years ago at Coventry airport, as a result of which I joined this forum. I'm not often lost for words but I really can't think what else to say.So sad.EricT

I was completely stunned when I heard the news and find it difficult to come to terms with. I've known Dave since the early days of the forum and am proud to consider him a friend. My heart goes out to Alison and Helen, and the rest of his friends and family. A great loss.

Rest in peace Dave. :RN:

Very sad and sudden news indeed.
To me ,and I would suggest most visitors here, Dave was the knowledgeable voice of CBFS.
