Interesting John, one or two I am envious of there; Concorde, VC10, Trident and Caravelle. I added one more new type to my list last night. Something must have gone wrong with the A320 that was planned to bring me back from DUS to ZRH and Swiss showed up with an A340-300, so I can now add a widebody to my list, despite never having flown long haul.
Jelle - I've never actually asked what you do (other than maintain the VC10 site ), do you fly privately or professionally?
A bit of both Toby. I have worked part time as a flight instructor for several years but since 2014 I've scaled this back to every other weekend at most. My main job is as a lecturer for a university in Amsterdam, teaching 18 year olds the basics of aircraft systems, aviation laws and regulations and other associated subjects.
You've got quite a few types on that list that I'm envious of John! Obviously I would have loved a trip on a VC10 but I noticed several other classic types that I would have enjoyed too.
Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

Jelle, Toby - I have been very fortunate to be able to fly in some of the classics but one that I missed was the Comet. It was advertised in a magazine but I was unable to go due to family commitments.
I was very lucky to be able to get on the VC-10 flight from Gatwick in 1981, 18 years after my first sighting. It was G-ASGF and we flew from Gatwick to the Brecon Beacons and return via Farnborough and Cardiff. After a low level pass at Farnborough we climbed on our way to Bristol and then onto the Brecon Beacons.
The return was a low pass over Cardiff and overflying Southampton on our way back to Gatwick. We did a flapless landing at Gatwick. The pilot was going to do a touch and go, but as some passengers were feeling a bit sick he decided not to.
