"Ici mon navire" = "Here is my ship"
At school, they told us that Nelson put his telescope to his blind eye, saying: "I see no ships!", apparently meaning that there was nothing to worry about.
Noting that SIMON (DIX) had posted just previously, and Simon sounds a bit like ici mon.....
I guess that cryptic crosswords and my general nature get me to look at things from different angles. If you would like me banned from this forum, please write to The Ministry, PO Box 98765 Nowhere In PARTICULAR, or another address of your choosing.

I always was told that Nelson put the telescope to his missing eye at the Battle of Copenhagen. Just a further snippet I once read at the Battle of the Nile [Aboukir Bay] on one of the French Ships that exploded the son of the Captain was on board which gave rise to the poem 'The boy stood on the burning deck'.
