Currently in Africa with a DC4.
This aircraft struggles to stay up at FL100 at the best of times but these last two flights, cruising at FL90 over Africa, I noticed an OAT between 20 and 30 degrees!
I needed almost TOGA power just to maintain flying speed in the hot temperatures but surprisingly the fuel flow was about two thirds of usual amount ( down to below 500 Kg per hour)

Re: Hot and High (Actually quite low!)
Interesting, are you sure its not a mixture issue?
Joe Cusick,
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

Mixture is automatic, the JBK series DC4.
Perhaps it is because the majority of flight this type does are relatively short so the additional fuel for take off/climb makes a far greater difference to average flow than a ten hour cruise??
