Re: School Nicknames
I didn't have a nickname - I never went to school.
Re: School Nicknames
I didn't have a nickname, not one that was said to my face anyway! I was called Denny, which is a variation of my given name.
However, this set me thinking, and I remember Bunner, Biffo, Bruffy, Jackal, Spiv, Giggin, Neenee, Yaggle, and Bubbles. Don't ask!!
Funny how you clearly remember details from 65 years ago, but can't remember where you left your gloves yesterday.

Re: School Nicknames
I never had a nickname when at school or anywhere else for that matter.
Nigel.

Re: School Nicknames
I suppose this qualifies as a nickname - people tend to drop the final 'l' so Nigel becomes 'Nige'. Probably more about lazy speech than anything else.

Re: School Nicknames
My nickname was just a shortened version of my last name. They'd call me Hig or Higgy. A shortened version of Higinbotham. I wish I had a dollar for every person that said to me "Higinbotham...Is that German?"

Re: School Nicknames
Now that's quite surprising, given your actual name - George Davison..George D...GeorD.
I loved my time up there.
Re: School Nicknames
Have to agree with that, some work colleagues used to call me Nige also but never thought of posting that, possibly used as an endearment term or otherwise they're getting very lazy in their manner of speech!!people tend to drop the final 'l' so Nigel becomes 'Nige'.
Regards
Nigel.
